ScorpEase

For CPA firms & advisors

Proactive value that doesn't run on your partners' hours.

Every firm has the same two unbillable jobs. The reasonable-comp figure you set from experience and quietly hope nobody asks about. And the client whose entire operation lived in their head until the week it mattered — and then became your emergency. When a client's admin stings, your firm is the one that feels it.

ScorpEase turns both into something clients maintain themselves, and your firm can bill for.

Keystead Vault An ongoing service line

Your whole book on one screen.

Not another system for your staff to keep current. Clients maintain their own vault; your firm gets a standing view across all of them.

  • The cadence. Each client's vault reminds them about estimates, sales tax, and annual reports on its own — and their returns are a click away when you need one. Deadlines stay met without becoming your follow-up list.
  • Triage at a glance. Every client vault with a readiness meter and overdue / due-soon flags. Push the Q3 estimate deadline to forty vaults at once instead of forty emails.
  • The handoff isn't archaeology. When an owner dies, sells, or walks away, you open one vault and it's current — EIN, returns, contacts, where the logins live.
  • The document chase ends. Formation papers, filed returns and who prepared them, insurance, key contacts — the paperwork you currently email a client three times for, filed in one place they keep current.
  • Access by email domain. A new hire sees the whole book on day one. No invite churn, and every access change is logged.

Three steps, no IT project.

Nothing to install, and nothing for your staff to maintain.

1
Refer your clients

Send them to Keystead and tell us who you referred; we credit it to your firm. Trackable firm links are on the way, so this won’t stay manual.

2
The client fills in their vault

They add their own details. Or you bill a Guided Setup session and do it with them on a screen-share.

3
Your firm gets access

By email domain — standing view or editor access. You decide per client whether you’re read-only or keeping their filings current. Every access change is logged.

What your firm earns.

25%
first-year referral
10%
on renewals
  • Earn 25% of the first year and 10% of renewals on every client you send to Keystead — no promo code for your client to remember, and no discount off your own fees.
  • Guided Setup is yours to bill. Sit with a client on a screen-share and fill the vault together, at whatever rate you charge for advisory time.
  • It renews because the problem does. Deadlines don’t stop, so neither does the reason to keep the vault — a continuity offering is something clients pay for and stay for. That’s what makes the 10% an annual line on your book rather than a one-time bonus.
On referral fees: the AICPA and many state boards restrict or require written disclosure of them, especially for attest clients. If your practice can't accept one, you can simply recommend Keystead with no referral share — the tool does the same work and there's nothing to disclose. We'll help you set up whichever fits.
Pilot firms wanted

We're offering the first partner firms free access in exchange for feedback. If you'd run this with a handful of clients and tell us what breaks, we want to hear from you.

You're recommending organization, not taking custody.

Your firm never holds client credentials — and neither do we.

Keystead points to where logins live; it doesn't store them. The client owns the vault. Every change is logged with who and when in a tamper-evident record, so there's always a trustworthy history of who touched what.

This applies to both products. Client tax-return information should be entered by the client themselves, or only with their prior written consent — which IRC §7216 generally requires before a preparer moves return information into a third-party service.

Salary Sherpa A per-client deliverable

Stop refereeing a number you can't defend.

Reasonable compensation sits in the no-man's-land between necessary and billable. A researched report moves it out of there.

  • A report per client — role breakdown, cited wage data, and a written methodology an examiner can follow.
  • Something to attach to the file and present in a planning meeting, instead of a figure that lives in your head.
  • Ends the annual negotiation. The client stops debating you and starts reading data.
  • A document with your client's name on it is a service you can price — not hours buried in "tax planning" that nobody wants to be invoiced for.

What it costs you, and what you charge.

$400
per report · delivered same day
  • Bundle it. Include a report in every S-corp election package you handle — it raises the value of the package without adding hours to it.
  • Or bill it standalone. A professional-grade document you can price on its own, separate from your compliance work.
  • Sending several a month? We discount for volume — there’s no program to join and no minimum, just tell us your client mix.

Why ScorpEase

Built by people who live your January.

Both products were shaped by years of hands-on tax and accounting work at ENGAGE CPAs — the returns, the document chase, the EIN hunt, and the same reasonable-compensation analysis rebuilt from scratch every year for client after client.

The IRS has never given the profession a formula, a safe harbor, or a practical framework for reasonable compensation. It just expects an answer, with documentation. We got tired of waiting for better guidance and built better tools.

Everything here was built to survive the two questions that actually matter: can you defend it, and could someone else pick it up?

Start with whichever one your clients need.

ScorpEase provides compensation research, documentation, and organizational tools. Nothing here is legal, tax, accounting, or investment advice, and no professional relationship is created by using these products. Reasonable compensation is a facts-and-circumstances determination; a report supports a position but does not guarantee any outcome in an examination or proceeding.
